Abolitionist organizer and educator Mariame Kaba will deliver MLK keynote

Northwestern University will commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a series of virtual MLK Dream Week events beginning with the Mariame Kaba’s keynote address at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13. Several events are free and open to the public, including the keynote.

16th annual Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project seeks submissions

The free weeklong songwriting workshop will take place virtually from June 20-26, 2021. The program will accept applications from Jan. 1 to Feb. 28, 2021, from aspiring songwriters, between the ages of 18 and 30 working in any popular music style. The application form, guidelines and full details are available online at the Project’s website.

Northwestern Opera Theater launches ‘Orfeo remote’ mini-series

Faculty and students at Northwestern’s Henry and Leigh Bienen School of Music used 21st-century technology to rehearse and film the 17th-century opera. "Orfeo remote" will launch Jan. 15, 2021, on YouTube. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly through Feb. 12, 2021.
