Career
Hayes Ferguson is the Director of Northwestern's Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and a clinical professor in the university's McCormick School of Engineering. She teaches a wide range of entrepreneurship and innovation classes and is a Trienens Institute faculty affiliate. She also serves on the executive advisory board of the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers and on the advisory council of CNBC Disruptor 50.
Before joining Farley in 2020, Hayes spent five years at The Garage, Northwestern's student startup incubator, as an Entrepreneur in Residence and Associate Director.
A founding member of the senior management team at Legacy, Hayes has served in leadership roles at multiple digital media companies. Earlier in her career, she taught journalism at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications after several years as a magazine writer, foreign correspondent and radio show host.
Hayes has a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University and did graduate work as a Rotary Scholar at the University of Perugia in Italy and as a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
