The committee will begin its work immediately, with a goal of naming the new provost by Winter Quarter. The search will focus on internal candidates, and the committee invites nominations of tenured Northwestern faculty members.

Northwestern today announced the formation of a committee to lead the search for the University’s next provost.

The individual chosen will succeed Kathleen Hagerty, who will step down from her role by the end of the academic year.

The committee will begin its work immediately, with a goal of naming the new provost by Winter Quarter. The search will focus on internal candidates, and the committee invites nominations of tenured Northwestern faculty members. Hagerty will assist in the eventual transition.

President Henry Bienen appointed the search committee, which includes a wide range of faculty members, to recommend a slate of candidates. Kellogg School of Management Dean Francesca Cornelli will chair the committee.

The committee will solicit input from stakeholders on priorities for the search, including the desired attributes and experiences of the provost. Members of the University community also are invited to share their perspectives and/or recommend candidates by emailing nuprovostsearch@northwestern.edu.

The committee will be staffed by Julie Allen, Board Secretary and Advisor to the President; Roma Khanna, Associate Provost for Strategy and Policy; and Naomi Wu, Assistant Director of Presidential Communications.
