Northwestern Professor Kirabo Jackson in conversation Thursday on Evanston campus
- Media should RSVP by Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m.
EVANSTON, Ill. --- As the Biden Administration comes to an end, Northwestern University economist Kirabo Jackson, former member of President Biden’s Council of Economic Advisers (CEA), will share his insights and discuss his time at the White House.
In an hourlong conversation with Andrew V. Papachristos — director of Northwestern’s Institute for Policy Research (IPR) and the John G. Searle Professor of Sociology — Jackson will discuss the economy under Biden, how working in policy differs from academia, major challenges faces while working in the White House and more.
The talk will take place at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 at the Kellogg Global Hub. Media are welcome but must RSVP.
Jackson, an IPR faculty fellow and the Abraham Harris Professor of Education and Social Policy in the School of Education and Social Policy, is a world leading expert in the economics of education. His thorough and highly convincing research has been published in the field’s top journals. Some of his most-cited work examines the impact of public school funding, in which Jackson and colleagues devised innovative methods to measure how increasing K–12 school finances improves students’ economic and social outcomes as adults.
Previously, Jackson served as the editor-in-chief of the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy. He also was co-editor of the American Economic Journal: Economic Policy and the Journal of Human Resources.
This event is organized by the department of economics and co-sponsored with the School of Education and Social Policy, the Institute for Policy Research and Kellogg School of Management.
