Northwestern Library unveils Garry Marshall Collection public exhibition
Experience Hollywood history with Northwestern alum’s iconic scripts, props, costumes
EVANSTON, Ill. --- For the first time, Northwestern University Library is showcasing dozens of items from the one-of-a-kind Garry Marshall Collection, documenting the life and work of the legendary TV and film writer, director and producer. This public exhibition offers a rare opportunity to explore the historic career of Marshall ’56, a Northwestern alum who passed away in 2016.
Best known for creating iconic sitcoms like “Happy Days,” “Laverne & Shirley” and “Mork & Mindy,” as well as directing blockbuster films such as “Pretty Woman” and “The Princess Diaries,” Marshall has made many contributions to the field of entertainment that continues to shape audiences around the world.
EXHIBITION DETAILS:
The Garry Marshall Collection features scripts, props, costumes, correspondences and pop-culture memorabilia from his long-standing career as a writer, producer and director. Additionally, on Friday, Nov. 15, members of Marshall's family will attend a public reception from 3 to 5 p.m. at the main library. They will be available to speak with the media on his enduring legacy in television and film and the family’s donation of Marshall's papers to Northwestern.

Exhibition viewing hours: weekdays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., weekends, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
