Laura K.J. Farr joined Northwestern University’s Government Relations office Jan. 1 as director of state and local relations.
A native Chicagoan, Farr came to Northwestern from Chicago Public Schools where she served as a state legislative affairs manager since 2011. Farr also holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a J.D. degree from Loyola University, Chicago.
“We are very fortunate to have Laura representing Northwestern’s interests in Springfield,” said Bruce Layton, special assistant to the president for Government Relations. “She brings exceptional skills and experience to our team at an important time of change for Illinois government.”
Farr replaces Dave Davis, who left the role in September 2018 and now serves as executive director of neighborhood and community relations for the University.
“I am very happy to join the Northwestern’s administration at this time,” Farr said. “Northwestern plays an important role in the life of our state, and I am excited to advocate on its behalf.”
