Career

Wanta has been a vital contribution to the expansion of psychiatry services in the Emergency Department at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, where a unique treatment model incorporates social work and psychiatry together to evaluate, treat and determine disposition for all patients presenting with a mental health crisis.

Wanta also has clinical responsibilities on the novel Hospital-Based Psychiatry (HBP) Service, focusing on better serving the mental health needs of patients admitted to the medical floors while boarding and awaiting inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Through bedside therapies and/or medication management, HBP jumpstarts psychiatric care and continuously reassesses the most appropriate disposition for patients, be it inpatient psychiatry or discharging to home.
