Telling the story

Filmmaker Brett Story discusses the role of community-engaged and research-informed storytelling in bridging audiences and responding to pressing political questions. In conjunction with Story’s keynote, Block Cinema presents a screening of her film “UNION,” which chronicles a union campaign at an Amazon fulfillment center, followed by a conversation and Q&A with Story.

Story speaks at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the Guild Lounge, Scott Hall, 601 University Place, Evanston. The screening of “UNION” is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, at The Block Museum of Art, 40 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston. RSVP here.

University of California, Berkeley’s Ula Yvette Taylor delivers a talk pulling from her upcoming book about Black feminist Frances M. Beal for the annual Center for Historical Studies/Black Studies Distinguished Lecture on Black History.

Celebrating love, in all its forms

University Chorale marks Valentine’s Day with a program delving into the many facets of human connection: passion, tenderness, joy and longing. Featuring works by Eric Whitacre, Gabriel Jackson and more, the concert offers a rich tapestry of voices that reflect the beauty and complexity of love in all its forms. 

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, in Galvin Recital Hall, Ryan Center for the Musical Arts, 70 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston. Buy tickets.

Women’s tennis looks to keep its dual-season momentum as the ’Cats face off against Fordham.
