This week, dance away the winter blues with the Dolphin Show’s staging of “Footloose,” appreciate art in detail at The Block or see moving documentaries from the Northwestern Prison Education Program. Here’s what to put on your calendar this week. As always, all are welcome!

Dreaming of summer

Undergraduates are invited to stop by SummerFest to learn about resources to help them meet their summer goals through internships, courses, grants and more. There will also be brief how-to sessions covering topics including the Summer Internship Grant Program, summer financial aid and guidance for international students.

The event runs from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the Louis Room, Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive, Evanston.

A close look

Join student associates from The Block Museum of Art in The Living Room for a close look at five abstract lithographs by Bruce Conner that playfully invite reflection on the act of perception.

The talk is at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at The Block, 40 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston. Register here.

Law in motion

The Center for Legal Studies hosts a roundtable discussion on the Supreme Court today with professors from area law schools, moderated by Joanna Grisinger, professor of instruction at Northwestern University and director of Legal Studies.

The roundtable is at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, in the Guild Lounge, Scott Hall, 601 University Place, Evanston.

Meeting the moment

The global information environment is transforming, as social media platforms and government institutions retreat from active roles in combating disinformation. This two-day symposium convenes global experts to address urgent priorities for this new “post-moderation” era.

The opening plenary is at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, suite 1650, One Pru Plaza, 130 E. Randolph St., Chicago. See the full symposium schedule and register to attend in person or virtually here.

‘Framing Innocence’

See award-winning documentaries created in the Northwestern Prison Education Program’s Documenting Carceral Injustice class, followed by a panel discussion featuring experts, students and others with connections to the program.

The event begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, in McCormick Foundation Center, 1870 Campus Drive, Evanston.

Dare to dance

The Dolphin Show returns for its 83rd year with “Footloose.” Based on the 1984 movie of the same name, the musical follows a rebellious teenager who finds out dancing is outlawed in his new town and decides to take a stand. Sunday’s performance will be followed by a talkback with the show’s director and an all-ages dance workshop.

Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, and Saturday, Jan. 24, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, in Cahn Auditorium, 600 Emerson St., Evanston. Buy tickets.

’Cats on the court

Women’s basketball looks to notch another win on home turf as the team faces off against UCLA on Sunday.

Tipoff is at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, at Welsh-Ryan Arena, 2705 Ashland Ave., Evanston. Buy tickets here.
