This week, we’re bringing you the post-Election Day events around campus. Whether you’re looking for a chance to dig into the latest in politics or take a few minutes to de-stress, we’ve got you covered.

Relax at the Rock

Stop by the Rock for post-Election Day cookies and cocoa provided by the Division of Student Affairs.

Grab a snack starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Rock, outside 1897 Sheridan Road, Evanston.

The press perspective

Tune into a post-election panel hosted by the Northwestern Alumni Association and Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications to get distinguished alumni journalists’ perspectives on the 2024 election and the U.S. political landscape. Northwestern community members may attend the discussion in person in Washington, D.C., or virtually via livestream.

The panel is at 7 p.m. EST/6 p.m. CST on Thursday, Nov. 7, on the 13th floor of the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C. Register here to attend in person, or here to receive the livestream link.

State of democracy

The Institute for Policy Research will bring together professors Eli Finkel, Chloe Thurston and Erik Nisbet to discuss the challenges facing U.S. democracy, from political polarization to misinformation in a panel moderated by Laurel Harbridge-Yong.

A global gaze

Six Northwestern faculty experts will discuss the global implications of the election results from trade policy to global health during a panel organized by the Buffett Institute. Panelists will include professors Michael Allen, Karen Alter, David Dana, Julie Lee Merseth, William Reno and Sarah Rodriguez. 

Lunch begins at 12:15 p.m. and the panel starts at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, on the second floor of 720 University Place, Evanston. Register here to attend in person.
