Northwestern Law to Hold ‘A Day of Civic Service’ on Election Day

Regularly scheduled classes will be canceled to allow for unique programming

CHICAGO --- Northwestern Pritzker School of Law will cancel classes on Election Day 2016 to allow students to fully participate in a “Day of Civic Service.”

“The Law School administration supports the noble and important goals of this initiative that was proposed by law students,” said Daniel Rodriguez, dean of the Law School.

In addition to rescheduling classes on Election Day, the Law School administration will allow time for students to:

  • volunteer with organizations to do election-related work
  • engage in the electoral process as poll judges or poll watchers
  • create educational programming for the Law School’s diverse community on American civics

Because regularly scheduled classes will not be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, the Law School will start the semester one day earlier, on Friday, Aug. 26.
