Sports Pavilion Closed for Renovations Starting Aug. 20

Existing facilities to reopen Sept. 1l, new and expanded spaces to open Sept. 15

EVANSTON, Ill. --- All three buildings of the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion will be closed to members beginning Aug. 20 during final renovations and expansion of the facilities. (Construction will not affect the American Craft Exposition that will take place on the premises Aug. 20 to 24).

Existing Henry Crown Sports Pavilion facilities are expected to reopen Sept. 11; newly constructed and expanded facilities are scheduled to open Sept. 15.

To accommodate members during construction, Patten Gymnasium will be open from Aug. 20 to Sept. 3, and Blomquist Recreation Center will be open from Sept. 4 to Sept. 10. As usual, Northwestern’s north beach will be available through Labor Day.

Because of the inconvenience, sports pavilion members will receive a one-month complimentary membership extension.

The existing facilities will open Sept. 11 following renovation of existing locker rooms, painting of existing lockers, replacement of sinks and fixtures, installation of 130 pool ceiling lights, replacement of second-floor carpeting, refinishing of basketball, racquetball and squash court floors and installation of new first-floor lobby lighting.

The opening of a new strength training area, three exercise studios, a fitness assessment area, massage therapy suites and a juice bar is scheduled for Sept. 15.
