EVANSTON, Ill. --- The themes of creativity and passion are the focus of the fourth annual talentQ Exposition, the culminating event in a series of fall activities bringing together Northwestern University integrated marketing communications students, marketing professionals, corporate sponsors and Medill faculty and alumni, on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Medill’s Fourth Annual talentQ Exposition takes place at 6 p.m. in Thorne Auditorium, 375 E. Chicago Ave., on the University’s Chicago campus. Free and open to the public, it is part of an ongoing quest by students at Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications to better understand the skills and attributes required of successful marketing communications professionals. DDB Worldwide chairman emeritus Keith Reinhard will kick off the evening with a keynote address. Inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in 2008, Reinhard is perhaps best known for McDonald’s “You deserve a break today” campaign and the “Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there” slogan. Under his leadership, DDB Worldwide developed award-winning work for Volkswagen, Anheuser-Busch, Frito-Lay, Dell Computer, JCPenney, Ameriquest and other companies.
After the keynote, Energy BBDO chief creative officer Dan Fietsam will moderate a panel discussion titled “Who Needs Creativity?” Panelists will include:
- Mary Baglivo, vice president for global marketing and chief marketing officer at Northwestern University; former Chairman and CEO, Americas, for Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide
- Jimmy de Castro, president and general manager of WGN-AM 720
- John Kenny, executive vice president and group director of strategic planning at Draftfcb Chicago
- Renetta McCann, chief talent officer at Leo Burnett USA
“TalentQ gives students the opportunity to connect and network with working professionals in the (marketing) industry,” says Tori Oman, one of three integrated marketing communications students involved in the planning of talentQ.
The event is sponsored by DDB, Digitas, Draftfcb, Energy BBDO, Leo Burnett, O'Keefe Reinhard & Paul and Starcom MediaVest, who have made significant donations to the Medill Albert D. Lasker Research Fund that supports TalentQ, other research initiatives and the preservation of the Albert D. Lasker papers.
