CHICAGO --- Cancer survivors, along with their family and friends, will celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day, Sunday, June 2, at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University as part of the 20th Annual Cancer Survivors' Celebration and Walk and new 5K run.
The celebration begins in Grant Park on South Columbus Drive and East Balbo Avenue with a timed 5K run beginning at 7:15 a.m. Walkers are encouraged to arrive by 8 a.m. for the festivities. The non-competitive three-mile walk steps off at 8:30 a.m.
Close to 800 survivors, Lurie Cancer Center physicians, scientists and health professionals will be among the 4,000 participants expected to attend. The festivities before and after the walk include a picnic, music, entertainment and an opportunity to sign the Dedication Wall. No pledges are required.
A $15 registration fee includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Registration is $25 on the day of the walk. There is no charge for children under 2 years old. Registration for the 5K run is $50 per person, which includes the walk registration fee. The 5K run is limited to 500 participants.
