Northwestern calls for nominations for Distinguished Secondary Teacher Awards

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Northwestern University seeks nominations for its annual Distinguished Secondary Teacher Awards. Graduating members of the Class of 2013 are encouraged to nominate outstanding high school teachers who have had a transforming impact on their lives.

An award of $2,500 will be given to each of the four teachers to be honored and their high schools.

The deadline for nominations is Nov. 30.

Each graduating student may submit one nomination, and nominees should be teaching full-time in the classroom this year.

Students should plan to participate in commencement weekend activities with teachers.

President Morton Schapiro will recognize the award winners and their roles in the lives of the students who nominated them during the commencement ceremony June 21, 2013.

The selection committee is chaired by Eugene Lowe, assistant to the president and senior lecturer of religious studies, and Associated Student Government president Victor Shao.
