EVANSTON, Ill. ---  “The Verona Project,” award-winning writer and director Amanda Dehnert’s new indie-folk-rock musical, will launch the Theatre and Interpretation Center’s (TIC) 2012-13 Mainstage season at Northwestern University, Oct. 19 to Nov. 4, at the Josephine Louis Theater. Presented by the American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) in association with TIC, it is a modern fable inspired by Shakespeare’s first comedy “The Two Gentlemen of Verona.”

TIC also will again host its National Theatre Live series -- bringing the best of British theatre broadcasts live to cinemas around the world -- including two Tuesday night broadcasts in October. They include “The Curious Incident Of The Dog in the Night-Time,” directed by Marianne Elliott, at 7 p.m. Oct. 2, at the Ethel M. Barber Theater and “Frankenstein,” directed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle (“127 Hours,” “Slumdog Millionaire”) 7 and 10:30 p.m. Oct. 30, at the Louis Theater.

TIC will participate in the third annual Backstage Evanston Festival, from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Ethel M. Barber Theater. The event will feature 17 local performing arts groups presenting sneak previews of their 2012-13 season offerings. For each $20 admission, purchasers will receive a $20 voucher that can be exchanged for a special ticket offer of equal value from any participating BackStage organization.

All events are open to the public and take place on Northwestern’s Evanston campus, at either the Ethel M. Barber Theater, 30 Arts Circle Drive, or the Josephine Louis Theater, 20 Arts Circle Drive, as noted.

Subscriptions for the entire 2012-13 TIC Mainstage Season, National Theatre Live series, Imagine U Family Series and single tickets are now on sale through the TIC Box Office at (847) 491-7282 or www.tic.northwestern.edu. Single ticket prices are listed below. Where applicable, ticket discounts are available for groups of eight or more.

TIC Mainstage subscribers can choose between two different plans. The seven-play subscription for $75 to $148 represents a 20 percent savings off single ticket prices. The five-play Flex-Pass for $45 to $118 represents a 10 percent savings off single ticket prices. Both are now on sale. A four-play subscription to National Theatre Live is $64 and a three-play subscription is $48. Subscriptions to Imagine U Family Series productions range from $18 to $24.

CONSTRUCTION ALERT: A three-year construction project under way on the southeast end of the Northwestern University campus has closed the Arts Circle Drive to traffic. Free parking for evening and weekend events remains available, but the project will impact handicapped parking and patrons requiring special access to Evanston campus theaters. National Theatre Live broadcast, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time,”

Based on the international best-selling novel by Mark Haddon, adapted for the stage by Simon Stephens and directed by Marianne Elliott, “The Curious Incident” tells the story of a 15-year-old boy who discovers a dead dog that has been speared with a garden fork. After he becomes a suspect, the boy records each fact in his book to solve the mystery. His detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.
