Better Human Resources Site

Users will find clean design makes it easier to navigate, find key tools

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Northwestern University’s Office of Human Resources has launched a new website with clear, convenient navigation to help members of the University community find tools for job searches, payroll, benefits, training and other issues.

“We believe the new Human Resources website is an essential component of an engaging Northwestern employment experience, said Pamela Beemer, associate vice president for human resources. “The site will help us continue to attract top talent and support a community of excellence with a workplace that embraces diversity and nurtures the development of people and intellectual pursuits.”

The new site http://www.northwestern.edu/hr/ also provides expanded resources for managers to improve recruitment, retention and development efforts.

New Features

  • Role-based navigation organizes information for new hires, faculty and staff, managers and administrators and retirees and emeritus faculty.
  • The new layout makes it easier to find frequently used tools such as FASIS self-service and Kronos time entry. Policies and procedures, previously in .pdf format only, now are available in .html for quick browsing.
  • A menu of quick links includes the new “How Do I…” guides with instruction on applying for a job, changing benefit elections and finding tax information, for example.
  • A centralized library houses all forms so users don’t have to know exactly under which topic a required form is filed. For example, would the topic “maternity leave” be filed under the payroll, benefits or compensation categories?
