About

Areas of Focus

  • Top-down proteomics
  • Natural products biosynthesis/discovery
  • Chromatin biology
  • Mass spectrometry

Work/Research

  • Protein biomarkers of health and disease
  • Top-Down Proteomics and the Human Proteoform Project: we are at the leading edge of the growing calls for a national project to characterize all of the proteoforms, specific molecular forms of proteins, in the human body and develop them as markers and targets in human disease.
  • Metabologenomics: we combined genome sequencing and automated gene cluster prediction with mass spectrometry-based metabolomics to detect new natural products and correlate them with their biosynthetic gene clusters on a large-scale
  • Technology development and applications for high performance mass spectrometry at the interface of chemistry and biology
  • Complex mixture analysis using Fourier-Transform Mass Spectrometry for targeted applications in proteomics and natural products
