Northwestern is kicking off the new year with a new campus hangout. Luna’s Pub and Grill, which features expansive views of Lake Michigan and classic pub fare, is now open at Norris University Center.
Members of the University community gathered this week for a grand opening celebration that included students and donors.
The gastropub, which seats approximately 120 people, is a destination in the heart of the Evanston campus for all to enjoy. It specializes in elevated pub favorites, including vegan and vegetarian options, beer, wine and zero-proof drinks.
“Many student voices contributed greatly to our overall design, and intentional opportunities for engagement and interaction rest in every corner,” said Corbin Smyth, executive director of Norris University Center. “While Luna’s is primarily focused on engaging our students, all members of the Northwestern community, as well as local residents, will feel welcome here.”
A menu full of Midwestern ingredients
Luna’s serves lunch and dinner, with a menu that features several local vendors, including Slagel Farms, Makowski’s Real Sausage, Phoenix Bean Tofu and others. Savory offerings include sandwiches, burgers, nachos, wings and salads. The dessert menu includes Eli’s Cheesecake, five-spice snickerdoodle donut holes and vegan chocolate chip cookies.
As the only restaurant on campus licensed to serve alcohol, Luna’s offers a selection that includes beer from local breweries such as Revolution, Sketchbook, Alarmist and Two Brothers, as well as wine, hard seltzers, spritzers and mocktails.
“Luna’s isn’t just a place for our campus community to gather — it’s a celebration of the broader community and the relationships that sustain it,” said Jeremy Schenk, associate vice president of Student Affairs. “Partnering with local farms, producers and breweries allows us to reflect the region we call home, support local businesses and create a menu that feels authentic, connected and rooted in place.”
