Northwestern has launched a new campaign using personal reflections from across the campus community to advocate for the University’s research efforts. The campaign, Research Matters, is designed to amplify a wide array of voices, including students, staff, faculty and alumni.

“In a time when evidence is questioned and funding is at risk, supporting research feels like a quiet form of public service,” says Alex Steinberg, a staff member in the Health Disparities and Public Policy Program. Steinberg is among the first to participate in the campaign, which will be featured on Northwestern’s social media channels and the recently created Research Impact web page.

Any interested Northwestern student, faculty, staff member, alum or friend is encouraged to share their own submission about why research matters or how it has impacted their life and community. Participants can submit a quote, share a photo or film a brief video on their phone.

Although the University will not be able to post all submissions, it will share as many as possible in the coming weeks and months.

The launch coincides with a refresh of Research Impact, the web page that highlights dozens of stories about the life-changing work and scholarship that Northwestern faculty and students engage in each day to solve tough problems, discover lifesaving cures and improve lives.
