Northwestern University Police said Saturday (Feb. 2) that missing Northwestern student Gabriel “Gabe” Corona has been found safe and in good physical condition.
Gabe is currently in Chicago, and his family has been notified. Appropriate follow up and care are being provided.
“I can’t tell you how happy and relieved we are that Gabe has been found safely,” said Northwestern Police Chief Bruce Lewis. “We are extraordinarily grateful to Evanston and Chicago police for their hard work and collaboration in this investigation.”

Chief of Police Bruce Lewis announced Friday that Northwestern Police Department officers and Community Service officers, in collaboration with Northwestern staff members, are fanning out across the Northwestern Evanston and Chicago campuses to inspect more than 200 campus buildings in search of missing student Gabe Corona, who was reported missing this week.
The inspection of buildings is a further attempt to uncover all possible leads. It is expected to continue through the weekend.
"We continue to work with Evanston Police Department investigators to locate Gabe," Chief Lewis said. "NPD will enlist its Community Service Officers and Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers to assist in this expansive search."
Northwestern Police and Evanston Police have called on the public for help in the search for information regarding the missing student — if you see something, you should say something and contact Evanston Police. Gabe was last seen around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, on a CTA surveillance camera at the Washington-Wabash L station in Chicago.
If there is a need for volunteers at any point to work with University police, the Northwestern Police Department will reach out to the community.

I am writing to enlist your aid in helping us locate a missing undergraduate student, Gabe Corona, 24, from Marengo, Ill., who was reported missing yesterday by his roommate. He was last seen around 9 a.m. Jan. 29. The Evanston Police Department is leading the investigation with assistance and support from the Northwestern Police Department. Gabe has not been in contact with family or friends. He did not take his cellphone with him when he left his off-campus apartment in Evanston. The University and Evanston police have been in contact with Gabe’s family.
Gabe is majoring in art theory and practice in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. Given the dangerously cold temperatures gripping the Chicago area, we wanted to alert the Northwestern community that he has been reported missing and to ask you for your help. Please do not put yourself at risk by going out on your own into the frigid temperatures to search. However, we would be grateful if you could be on the lookout for Gabe, and ask you to share any information that could be helpful in the search.
Evanston Police have issued a call for the public’s assistance noting that Gabe lives in Evanston and frequents the areas around Northwestern, as well as various locations in the City of Chicago. He frequently uses the CTA or Metra for transportation. Police do not suspect foul play.
