Northwestern announces named professorships

The Board of Trustees has nominated 27 faculty members to professorships

EVANSTON - The Northwestern University Board of Trustees has appointed 27 faculty members to named professorships.

The faculty members and their appointments are:

Ange-Therese Akono, who will join Northwestern in September 2017 as assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering, has been appointed to the Louis Berger Junior Professorship.

Luis Amaral, professor of chemical and biological engineering and co-director of Northwestern's Institute on Complex Systems, has been appointed to the Erastus Otis Haven Professorship.

Guillermo Ameer, professor in the biomedical engineering department at the McCormick School of Engineering and in the department of surgery at the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed to the Daniel Hale Williams Professorship.

Julie Biehl, a clinical associate professor of law, has been appointed to the Harry B. Reese Teaching Professorship.

Edith Chen, professor of psychology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and professor of medical social sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed to the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Professorship.

Peter DiCola, professor of law and a Searle Fellow in the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, has been appointed to the Benjamin Mazur Summer Research Professorship.

Deyu Fang, professor of pathology in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed to the Hosmer Allen Johnson Professorship of Pathology.

Gerald Gabrielse, who will join Northwestern in September 2017 as professor of physics, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees Professorship.

Nathan Gianneschi, who will join Northwestern in September 2017 as a professor of chemistry, has been appointed to the Jacob and Rosaline Cohn Professorship.

Marianne Green, associate professor of medicine and medical education and senior associate dean for medical education in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed to the Raymond H. Curry, M.D. Professorship in Medical Education.

Vicky Kalogera, director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Exploration and Research in Astrophysics (CIERA), has been appointed to the Daniel I. Linzer Distinguished University Professorship.

Dean Karlan, who will join Northwestern in July 2017 as professor of economics and finance, has been appointed to the Frederic Esser Nemmers Distinguished Professorship.

Xunrong Luo, tenured professor of medicine and director of the Human Islet Transplant Program at Northwestern, has been appointed to the Margaret Gray Morton Professorship of Medicine.

José Medina, who will join Northwestern in the summer of 2017 as professor of philosophy, has been appointed to the Walter Dill Scott Professorship.

Gregory Miller, professor of psychology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and a faculty fellow at the Institute of Policy Research and is a co-founder, with Edith Chen, of the Foundations of Health Research Center at Northwestern, has been appointed to the Louis W. Menk Professorship.

Hooman Mohseni, professor of electrical engineering and computer science, has been appointed to the AT&T Professorship of Information Technology.

David Morton, professor in the department of industrial engineering and management sciences and director of the Center for Optomization & Statistical Learning in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, has been appointed to the David A. and Karen Richards Sachs Professorship.

Janice Nadler, the Stanford Clinton Research Professor of Law in the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law has been appointed to the Nathanial Nathanson Professorship.

Jorge Nocedal, the David A. and Karen Richards Sachs Professorship holder in industrial engineering and management sciences, has been appointed to the Walter P. Murphy Professorship.

Victoria Nourse, who will join the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in September 2017 as visiting professor of law, has been appointed to the Jack N. Pritzker Distinguished Visiting Professorship.

Eleanor O'Rourke, an assistant professor with a joint appointment in electrical engineering and computer science, has been appointed to the  June and Donald Brewer Junior Professorship.

David Schwartz, professor of law, has been appointed to the Stanford Clinton Research Professorship.

Patrick Seed, tenured professor of pediatrics and associate chief research officer for basic sciences for the Stanley Manne Children's Research Institute at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, has been appointed to the Children's Research Fund Professorship in Basic Science.

Sara Sood, clinical associate professor of electrical engineering and computer science, has been appointed to the Chookaszian Family Teaching Professorship. 

Deborah Tuerkheimer, professor of law at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, has been appointed to the Class of 1940 Research Professorship.

Christopher Udry, who will join Northwestern in the summer of 2017 as a professor of economics, has been appointed to the Robert E. and Emily King Professorship.

Robert Wootton, professor of the practice at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, has been appointed to the William Trumbull Lectureship.
