Lakefront Path Reopens

Access restored on north end of Evanston campus for biking, walking and jogging

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern has reopened the lakefront path that runs along the shore of Lake Michigan on the north side of University’s Evanston campus.

The path was closed last summer for construction of Chap and Ethel Hutcheson Field, the new football practice field, and Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium, the renovated soccer/lacrosse field. Now that construction is complete, the path has been restored for biking, walking and jogging. It features safety and landscaping improvements, including new lighting, fencing and paving.

Additionally, construction is expected to be complete by April on a new walkway along the north end of Martin Stadium that runs west to connect with the walkway near the Frances Searle Building.
