Career

Tomita is a world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon who has more than 40 years of clinical experience at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago since 1981. He served as a division head of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Lurie from 2001 to 2019 and is a founding director of Lurie’s Brain Tumor Center and director of Pediatric Neurosurgery Research program at Lurie.

Tomita trained more than 300 residents, fellows and researchers during his career. He published 280 refereed articles, 52 book chapters and was invited to 77 national/international medical societies and medical schools as an official guest or a visiting professor.

Tomita served on multiple editorial boards of medical journals and on executive boards of pediatric neurosurgical societies. He is a past president of International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
