Career

Priya Verghese, MBBS (MD), MPH is a pediatric nephrologist with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. She graduated from one of India’s top medical colleges and then completed pediatric residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She declined an invitation to be chief resident to pursue a pediatric nephrology fellowship, a transplant fellowship and a Masters of Public Health at the University of Washington. She served as nephrologist, medical director for pediatric kidney transplant, and the president of the hospital clinical service unit board of the University of Minnesota in July 2009 until 2020 when she was recruited to be Division Head of the Pediatric Nephrology Division at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. Dr. Verghese has revamped the Pediatric Nephrology Division to increase access, reduce patient wait times, create a unique service model to meet the needs of the patients, increase the division’s research profile and raise the profile, width and depth of the nephrology training program for medical students, residents and fellows.
