Craig LaMay has been named acting dean of Northwestern University-Qatar (NU-Q), effective Wednesday, Jan. 1. LaMay succeeds Everette Dennis, who served as NU-Q’s dean from 2011 through December, when he began a family leave.

Dennis had planned to step down this summer, and the search for the next full-time dean of NU-Q is well underway. The University’s goal is to have a new dean identified during the Spring 2020 semester.

LaMay, a journalist, a professor at Medill and a professor in residence at NU-Q, also is a member of the NU-Q dean search committee. He is not a candidate for the permanent position. When the new dean begins his or her appointment, LaMay will return to his duties as professor.
