Organization of Women Faculty issues statement condemning acts of hate

OWF encourages University faculty, staff and students to sign on

In a letter-to-the-editor and separate advertisement published in today’s Daily Northwestern, Northwestern’s Organization of Women Faculty (OWF) took a strong stand against acts of hate and bigotry that have occurred on campus.

In its letter, signed by 10 members of OWF’s steering committee, the group said they “stand against all words and acts of hate and in support of all members of our community. We believe that a diverse and inclusive Northwestern is a strong Northwestern.”

The faculty members have invited all University faculty, staff and students to sign its online statement against bigotry. They also have encouraged fellow faculty members to pledge to take their own personal action against hate, such as sharing the statement in class, placing the statement on their syllabi or course website, or posting it on a lab or office door.
