Northwestern University’s Dittmar Gallery invites students, staff and community members to submit works for “Traces from Off the Beaten Path,” a juried exhibit that explores the guarded aspects of identity.
The submission deadline is March 20 and artworks will be selected on March 22.
The exhibit will be on view April 5 to 28 in the Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Drive on the Evanston campus. An opening reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 5 in the Dittmar Gallery.
“‘Traces from Off the Beaten Path’ invites artists to tell their story, investigating the past and exploring one’s unseen identity. Every stroke on the canvas, bend in the sculpture traces its roots from deep down the artist’s self. It reveals something, everything, about who we are,” said Dittmar Gallery Curator Ram Tiwari (’20).
During the run of show, gallery visitors can cast votes for best artwork. A panel of judges will select the top three prizewinners from those with the most public votes.
The jury panel will include Northwestern faculty and staff members. Prizes range from a $50 Blick Art Materials gift card to a $150 Amazon gift card. Awards will be presented at the closing reception.
Dittmar Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Sunday, except when a new exhibition is being mounted. Admission is free and open to the public.
