Northwestern launches new online course in sports marketing

Northwestern University has launched a new course in sports marketing through the online learning platform Coursera. The course will be taught by Medill professor Candy Lee and features guests from the world of sports media and industry.

Some of the topics covered in the course include sports-specific marketing strategies, sponsorships, licensing, dynamic ticket pricing, public relations and ways to engage fans.

“Sports marketing is a rapidly growing industry in which billions of dollars are spent annually,” Lee said. “Medill is a leader in higher education in this industry and we are excited to help a wide range of people interested in sports media learn about this exciting field.”

The course requires six weeks of study. Interested applicants can start enrolling today. It’s available at no charge.

A paid version is available for those preferring to receive a certificate from Northwestern.
