Northwestern releases diversity and inclusion report

Gate

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion has released Northwestern’s Diversity and Inclusion Report for academic year 2017.

Since 2015, the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion (OIDI) has worked to create and sustain a diverse, inclusive and welcoming environment for all Northwestern students, faculty, staff and alumni. This work aligns with the Leadership Commitment from President Schapiro and Provost Holloway to improve diversity, equity and inclusion at Northwestern.

OIDI partners with colleagues across the University to achieve this mission with a focus on four strategic pillars: access, equity, enrichment and well-being. Each year, OIDI publishes a report on the University’s progress toward a more diverse, equitable and inclusive Northwestern. The 2017 Diversity and Inclusion Report includes:

  • An overview of Northwestern’s efforts in recruiting students, faculty and staff from historically underserved and underrepresented populations
  • Initiatives, offices and individuals working to advance fair treatment and equal access for all Northwestern community members
  • Programs and initiatives that develop and enhance cultural competence and promote academic excellence across the University
  • Northwestern’s approach to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where every individual or group feels respected, valued and supported

Questions and comments should be directed to diversity@northwestern.edu. For continued updates on diversity and inclusion efforts at Northwestern, connect with OIDI on Facebook and LinkedIn.
