Latina and Latino Studies program urges support for hurricane and earthquake victims

Organizations assisting victims noted

Northwestern’s Latina and Latino Studies program is urging support for the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and of the three recent earthquakes in Mexico, said Frances Aparicio, director of the program.

“We are working on various initiatives, from teach-ins and undergraduate fundraisers to proposing fundraisers for scholars displaced in Puerto Rico,” Aparicio said. “We hope members of the Northwestern community will join in these efforts.”

The program has developed a list of organizations that are providing assistance to victims of the natural disasters. The list of organizations and more information on the program’s efforts are available online.
