Northwestern spring breakers pursue knowledge around the globe

For spring break 2017, 20 Northwestern University undergraduate groups traveled to 17 countries for research, classes and cultural opportunities.

At the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, economic and political science students visited cultural sites and attended lectures while the Dolphin Show brought its 75th annual show, “Little Shop of Horrors,” to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Northwestern German students traveled to Berlin to volunteer in a refugee shelter and interview refugees, and in the Yucatan Peninsula, students snorkeled in cenotes, collected and dissected sediment cores and explored area rivers and caves, just to name a few.
