Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and IE Law School in Madrid, Spain, have launched a new joint L.L.B./J.D. program to begin later this year.
The program will enable select students who begin an L.L.B. degree at IE Law School to continue their studies at Northwestern Law, in its two-year J.D. program for international lawyers. Eligible students will receive both degrees in five years, reducing the total time of study by two years.
“IE has become one of the leading and most innovative law schools in Europe, and it has a substantially international L.L.B. program,” said Dean Daniel B. Rodriguez of Northwestern Law. “We are pleased to expand our partnership with IE, which now encompasses several degree programs, and look forward to welcoming their excellent L.L.B. students to Northwestern.”
IE Law School is part of the highly ranked IE University, where students of more than 90 different nationalities study.
“Northwestern Pritzker School of Law is among the world’s most prestigious law schools, recognized for its leadership in integrating a global approach to law, business management, entrepreneurship and technology,” said Javier de Cendra, dean of IE Law School. “IE Law School’s vision is built exactly upon those values, and so we are very excited to launch this new partnership to attract the very best students.”
Added Soledad Atienza, vice dean of IE Law School, “This new agreement with Northwestern Pritzker School of Law strengthens the global approach to legal practice that we promote at IE Law School by training students in a different legal system and enabling them to access the legal practice in a different jurisdiction.”
The L.L.B./J.D. program will begin with students admitted to IE Law in Fall 2017.
As founding members of the Law Schools Global League, both Northwestern Law and IE Law are committed to the globalization of law and to the integration of global law in teaching and research. The close partnership between Northwestern Law and IE Law, including the new joint L.L.B./J.D., is evidence of this commitment.
