CHICAGO - The Veterans Law Association (VLA) at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law is hosting two panel discussions, a networking reception and a dinner to honor and celebrate the veterans that are a part of the Northwestern Law community.
Noon, Thursday, Nov. 10, Rubloff, Room 150 The panel discussion will focus on public service careers. They will be hosting the Honorable Judge Hood, current circuit judge for the Second Municipal District and former major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves; Captain Bart, JAG for the U.S. Navy; Captain Lyons, JAG for the U.S. Marine Corps; and Matt Roberts, general counsel for the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs.
5:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, Lowden Hall The networking reception will allow for former military sponsor representatives to network with the veteran community at Northwestern. The reception is open to those interested in military and veteran affairs. Sponsors include Schiff Hardin, Sidley Austin, Skadden, Holland & Knight, Jenner & Block, Foley & Lardner, Weil, Goldberg & Kohn and Debevoise & Plimpton. The event is business casual.
Noon, Friday, Nov. 11, Rubloff, Room 180 The panel discussion will focus on how veterans have transitioned into big law and how their career experience contributes. Attendees will include prior military service members who are now work at sponsoring firms, including Schiff Hardin, Holland & Knight, Foley & Lardner and Jenner & Block.
On Friday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m., the VLA will hold a dinner at D4 Irish Pub & Cafe for current veterans on campus as well as those who have familial affiliation with the military or an interest in later pursuing a military career.
