Northwestern Announces Named Professorships

EVANSTON, Ill. --- The Northwestern University Board of Trustees has appointed 62 faculty members to named professorships.

The faculty members and their appointments are: 

Sandeep Baliga, professor of managerial economics and decision sciences in the Kellogg School of Management, has been appointed the John L. and Helen Kellogg Distinguished Chair. 

Achal Bassamboo, professor of managerial economics and decision sciences in the Kellogg School of Management, has been appointed the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professorship of Decision Sciences. 

G. R. Scott Budinger, professor of medicine and recently appointed chief of the division of pulmonary and critical care medicine in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed the Ernest S. Bazley Professorship of Airway Diseases. 

Charles Camic, professor of sociology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Lorraine H. Morton Professorship.

David Cella, professor and chair of the department of medical social sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed the Ralph Seal Paffenbarger Professorship. 

Penelope Deutscher, professor of philosophy in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Joan and Sarepta Harrison Professorship of Ethics and Justice.

Gary Alan Fine, the John Evans Professor of Sociology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the James E. Johnson Professorship. 

Ezra Friedman, professor of law in the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, has been appointed the Benjamin Mazur Summer Research Professorship.

David W. Gatchell, clinical associate professor in the Segal Design Institute in the McCormick School of Engineering, has been appointed the Charles Deering McCormick Distinguished Clinical Professorship of Teaching Excellence.

Elizabeth M. Gerber, associate professor of mechanical engineering in the McCormick School of Engineering and communication studies in the School of Communication, has been appointed the Charles Deering McCormick Professorship of Teaching Excellence. 

Erik Gernand, senior lecturer in the department of radio, television and film in the School of Communication, has been appointed the Charles Deering McCormick Distinguished Lectureship of Teaching Excellence. 

William Halperin, the John Evans Professor of Astronomy and Physics in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Orrington Lunt Professorship. 

Charles W. Hogue Jr., professor and incoming chair of the department of anesthesiology in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed the James E. Eckenhoff Professorship of Anesthesiology. 

Joyce Hughes, professor of law in the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, has been appointed the Harry B. Reese Teaching Professorship.

Maha H.A. Hussain, professor in the department of medicine, division of hematology/oncology in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed the Genevieve E. Teuton Professorship of Medicine. 

Emily Kadens, professor of law in the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, has been appointed the William G. and Virginia K. Karnes Research Professorship.

Richard Kieckhefer, the John Evans Professor of Religious Studies and professor of history in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Sarah Rebecca Roland Professorship. 

Brayden King, professor of management and organizations in the Kellogg School of Management and is also affiliated with the department of sociology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Max McGraw Professorship in Management.

Roopal V. Kundu, associate professor of dermatology and incoming associate dean for admissions in the Feinberg School of Medicine, has been appointed the Jacob R. Suker, MD, Professorship of Medical Education. 

Robert Lamb, professor of molecular biosciences in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Kenneth F. Burgess Professorship. 

Jon Maner, professor of management and organization in the Kellogg School of Management and professor of psychology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Morris and Alice Kaplan Professorship in Ethics and Decision in Management.

John Marko, professor of molecular biology and physics and astronomy in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Soretta and Henry Shapiro Research Professorship in Molecular Biology.

Bonnie Martin-Harris, professor of communication sciences and disorders in the School of Communication, has been appointed the Alice Gabrielle Twight Professorship in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

Alfonso Mondragon, professor of molecular biology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Ethel and John Lindgren Professorship.

Daniel J. O’Keefe, the Owen L. Coon Professor of Argumentation and Debate in the School of Communication, has been appointed the Charles Deering McCormick Professorship of Teaching Excellence. 

Wendy Pearlman, associate professor of political science in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Martin and Patricia Koldyke Outstanding Teaching Professorship.

James Rondinelli, assistant professor of materials science and engineering in the McCormick School of Engineering, has been appointed the Morris E. Fine Research Professorship. 

Alan Sahakian, chair and professor of electrical engineering and computer science in the McCormick School of Engineering, has been appointed the John A. Dever Professorship of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Jeffrey Sconce, associate professor of radio, television and film in the School of Communication, has been appointed the Van Zelst Research Chair in Communication.

Michelle Shumate, associate professor of communication studies in the School of Communication, has been appointed the April McClain Delaney and John Delaney Research Professorship.

Juliet Sorensen, clinical associate professor of law with the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law’s Center for International Human Rights, has been appointed the Harry B. Horrow Professorship in International Law.

Viktor Todorov, professor of finance in the Kellogg School of Management, has been appointed the Harold H. Hines, Jr. Professorship in Risk Management.

Wendy Lee Wall, professor of English in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Charles Deering McCormick Professorship of Teaching Excellence. Wall has also been reappointed the Avalon Foundation Professorship in the Humanities. 

Burton Weisbrod, the John Evans Professor of Economics in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, has been appointed the Cardiss Collins Professorship.

Craig Bina has been reappointed the Wayne V. Jones II Professorship in Geology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. 

Bruce Carruthers has been reappointed the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Professor of Sociology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Richard Carthew has been reappointed the Owen L. Coon Professorship in Molecular Biology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

S. Hollis Clayson has been reappointed the Bergen Evans Professorship in the Humanities in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Mary Dietz has been reappointed the John Evans Professorship in Political Theory in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. 

Alice Eagly has been reappointed the James Padilla Chair in the Arts and Sciences in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Brian Edwards has been reappointed the Crown Chair in Middle East Studies in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. 

Thomas Geraghty has been reappointed the Class of 1967 James B. Haddad Chair in the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

Reginald Gibbons has been reappointed the Frances Hooper Chair in the Arts and Humanities in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. 

John Hagan has been reappointed the John D. MacArthur Professor of Sociology and Law in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Igal Hendel has been reappointed the Ida C. Cook Chair in Economics in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Joel Horowitz has been reappointed the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professorship in Market Economics in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Martin Lariviere has been reappointed the John L. and Helen Kellogg Distinguished Chair of Managerial Economics & Decision Sciences in the Kellogg School of Management. 

Edward Malthouse has been reappointed the Theodore R. and Annie Laurie Sills Professorship in Integrated Marketing Communications in the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.

Milan Mrksich has been reappointed the Henry Wade Rogers Professorship in Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, and Cell and Molecular Biology in the McCormick School of Engineering and the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Thomas O’Halloran has been reappointed the Charles E. and Emma H. Morrison Professorship in Chemistry in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Yohanan Petrovsky-Shtern has been reappointed the Crown Family Professorship in Jewish Studies in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Amy Rosenzweig has been reappointed the Weinberg Family Distinguished Professorship in the Life Sciences in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

David Seidman has been reappointed the Walter P. Murphy Professorship of Materials Science and Engineering in the McCormick School of Engineering.

Michael Sherry has been reappointed the Richard W. Leopold Professorship in History in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Hendrik Spruyt has been reappointed the Norman Dwight Harris Chair in International Relations in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Seth Stein has been reappointed the Deering Professorship in Geological Sciences in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.

Iasha Sznajder has been reappointed the Ernest S. Bazley Professorship of Asthma and Related Disorders in the Feinberg School of Medicine. 

Peter Voorhees has been reappointed the Frank C. Engelhart Professorship of Materials Science in the McCormick School of Engineering. 

Sandra Waxman has been reappointed the Louis W. Menk Professorship in Psychology in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. 

Samuel Weber has been reappointed the Avalon Foundation Professorship in the Humanities in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. 

Bruce Wessels has been reappointed the Walter P. Murphy Professorship in Materials Science and Engineering in the McCormick School of Engineering.

Steven Zelditch has been reappointed the Wayne and Elizabeth Jones Professorship in Mathematics in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.
