Lincoln Street to Close May 17

Northern entrance to Northwestern campus closed Sunday

Lincoln Street from Sheridan Road east to Campus Drive will be closed to traffic starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 17. Members of the Northwestern community are advised to park in the middle and south end of campus that day and walk to their destinations on campus.

On Sunday, Walsh Construction will shift the existing construction barriers and in order to switch construction activities from the north side of Lincoln Street to the south side. The work is expected to be completed by approximately 5 p.m. Sunday.

Lincoln Street is undergoing a major resurfacing. Starting Monday, May 18, Lincoln Street will again be open during construction, but traffic will be limited to one lane, with a temporary traffic light installed to regulate alternating one-way traffic.

Lincoln Street is the main entrance to the north end of Northwestern University’s Evanston campus, so members of the Northwestern community and visitors to campus are advised to use extra caution and allow additional time when traveling on that route. Backups may occur on Sheridan Road due to cars waiting to turn on to Lincoln Street, especially during the morning rush period.

Completion of the project is anticipated to be June 1.
