Northwestern Names Equal Opportunity Director

Roberto Sanabria will help improve diversity, access and inclusion on campus

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Roberto Sanabria has been appointed director of equal opportunity and access at Northwestern University.

As a member of the Human Resources leadership team, Sanabria and his staff will work with leaders and individual contributors throughout Northwestern to establish policies and practices for equal opportunity, improve diversity and access and build a community free of discrimination and harassment.

He will advise faculty and staff on protocols, laws and regulations while catalyzing change with internal and external stakeholders to realize a University-wide vision of inclusion.

Sanabria joins Northwestern from Northeastern Illinois University, where he was director of university outreach and equal employment.

Previously, he was the affirmative action officer and chief of Latino affairs at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Sanabria earned his Doctorate in adult education from National-Louis University, a Master of Science in adult education from Northern Illinois University and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish language from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
