Dodger's Owner to Address Northwestern Law Grads

Chairman, owner of Los Angeles Dodgers to address law school’s class of 2013

CHICAGO --- Mark R. Walter, chairman and controlling owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will deliver the main convocation address at Northwestern University School of Law, his alma mater, at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Chicago Theatre, 175 N. State St., Chicago. 

Walter, a 1985 graduate of the law school, is also chief executive officer and a member of the board and executive committee of Guggenheim Capital, a privately held financial services company. Additionally, he serves as chairman of the board of EquiTrust Life Insurance Company and is one of the founders of the Liberty Hampshire Company. After graduating from Northwestern Law, Walter worked for the law firm of Sonnenschein Carlin Nath & Rosenthal (now SNR Denton) and then First Chicago Bank (now JP Morgan Chase).

Walter serves as a trustee or director of several organizations, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and the Security Benefit Corporation. Before attending Northwestern Law, he received a B.S. from Creighton University.
