Yo-Yo Ma, John Hodgman to Talk on Campus

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Looking for an exciting, unusual way to spend this Sunday (Oct. 14)?

Virtuoso cellist Yo-Yo Ma and Daily Show “resident expert” John Hodgman will be on Northwestern University’s Evanston campus as part of Morry and Dolores Kohl Kaplan Day. Four Northwestern professors also will make presentations.

The day -- which includes nine distinct programs -- is presented by the Chicago Humanities Festival in partnership with Northwestern’s Alice Kaplan Institute for the Humanities.

Musician Ma will take part in a conversation about the arts and citizenship with ballet star Damian Woetzel and members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Humorist Hodgman will discuss his latest volume of “Complete World Knowledge.” Northwestern faculty members Brian Edwards, Mark Hauser, E. Patrick Johnson and Julia Stern will speak on “The Middle East Looks at America,” “Digging Up Plantations,” “The Whipping Man” and “Bette Davis Eyes American History,” respectively.
