The Earth and us
The Northwestern Sustainability Lecture Series returns with talks by world-renowned experts. This year's focus is “Earth-Human Interactions: Sustainability and Development,” focusing on the core themes of energy, climate and urban transformations.

Wildcats play to keep their crown
Catch Northwestern women’s lacrosse Thursday as they cradle and pass their way through the Big Ten tournament. The 2023 conference champs play Johns Hopkins in Thursday’s semifinal for a chance at the title game.
The semifinal match takes place at noon on Thursday, May 2, at Martin Stadium, 2235 Campus Drive, Evanston. Find tickets here.
New student art at The Block
Enjoy the work of student artists at the opening reception for the 2024 MFA thesis exhibition, “Half & Half.” The exhibition will be on display at The Block until June 16.

Paging the first violinist
The Northwestern Medical Orchestra presents its spring 2024 concert, “Magic & Majesty,” featuring the overture from “Die Fledermaus,” “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and “Pines of Rome.”

Design heats up
Learn about a centuries-old manufacturing process during the annual Segal Iron Pour. Students will pour molten iron from a 2,700-degree furnace into creatively designed molds as the culmination of the course “Leonardo, Geometry, and the Art of Manufacturing.”
The pour starts at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave., Evanston. All community members are welcome.
Stories of science
Imperial College London’s Jessica Wade has written more than 2,100 Wikipedia entries on women scientists to highlight their contributions to science and raise the profile of minorities in STEM. Wade talks about her efforts, followed by a Q&A and reception.
