Additional Closure of Sheridan Road Scheduled for Feb. 9

Caution urged as Sheridan Road water main work continues between Colfax and Lincoln Streets

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Members of the Northwestern University community are urged to use extra caution and leave extra time when driving or walking on Sheridan Road due to the construction that is ongoing and will lead to closures Tuesday.

All northbound traffic will be rerouted off Sheridan Road between Colfax and Lincoln streets Tuesday, Feb. 9, due to water main line improvements. The northbound lane of Sheridan Road will be closed starting at 7 a.m. and is scheduled to be reopened by 5 p.m. The southbound lane will remain open with delays expected.

Shuttle buses will pick up Patten Gym riders at the northeast corner of Sheridan Road and Lincoln Street. Parking on Colfax will be prohibited between Orrington Avenue and Sheridan Road to accommodate for the detour.

This is part of an ongoing construction project on Sheridan Road improving water main lines from Emerson Street, just north of the Weber Arch, to Lincoln Street, where Patten Gymnasium is located.

The project is expected to be completed by late May.

Please allow for extra travel time as shuttles may experience delays due to traffic congestion or unexpected reroutes. All shuttles can be tracked using the DoubleMap tracker.

For shuttle questions or comments, please contact Paul Merkey, Transportation Manager, at 312-503-5540 or pmerkey@northwestern.edu.
