EVANSTON, Ill. --- Lincoln Street from Sheridan Road east to Campus Drive will undergo major resurfacing, starting Monday, April 6. The street will remain open during construction, but traffic will be limited to one lane, with a temporary traffic light installed to regulate alternating one-way traffic.
Lincoln Street is the main entrance to the north end of Northwestern University’s Evanston campus, so members of the Northwestern community and visitors to campus are advised to use extra caution and allow additional time when traveling on that route. Backups may occur on Sheridan Road due to cars waiting to turn on to Lincoln Street, especially during the morning rush period.
The project is a joint venture between Northwestern and the city of Evanston. The work, which will be done by Walsh Construction, will include removing the top level of the existing street, adding a new roadbed and then resurfacing the entire street. Questions arising during construction should be directed to Douglas Brown, project superintendent, at dpbrown@walshgroup.com.
Completion of the project is anticipated to be June 1.
