Redevelopment of Norris University Center’s East Lawn to begin this summer

EVANSTON, Ill. --- American Airlines chairman and CEO Doug Parker will deliver the 34th Annual William A. Patterson Transportation Lecture Monday, April 20, at Northwestern University.
The lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the OLC Forum, Donald P. Jacobs Center, 2001 Sheridan Road, on Northwestern’s Evanston campus. Sponsored by the University’s Transportation Center, the event is free and open to the public.
Parker will take questions from the audience at the conclusion of his talk.
Parker, who has worked in the airline industry for nearly 30 years, became CEO of American Airlines Group, Inc. following the merger of US Airways and American Airlines in 2013.
He has been one of the most vocal proponents of airline industry consolidation, which, Parker says, has provided a more stable and competitive industry for employees, customers, communities and stockholders.
Previously, Parker was chairman and CEO of US Airways. Prior to the merger of US Airways and America West Airlines in 2005, he was chairman, president and CEO of America West. Parker became CEO at America West just 10 days before Sept. 11, 2001, and led the carrier through the crisis.
His experience prior to joining America West in 1995 includes four years with Northwest Airlines as vice president and assistant treasurer and vice president of financial planning and analysis. From 1986 to 1991, Parker held a number of financial management positions with American Airlines.
The Patterson Transportation Lecture is an annual event supported by the Patterson Transportation Endowment, established at Northwestern in 1979 and honoring the late William A. Patterson, founder and CEO of United Airlines.
