Country's Largest National Cancer Survivors Day Celebration

CHICAGO --- The largest National Cancer Survivors Day gathering in the country will take place Sunday, June 1, in Chicago, at the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University’s annual Cancer Survivors' Celebration Walk & 5K.

More than 4,000 people are expected to gather in Grant Park (Columbus Drive and Balbo Avenue) at 7:30 a.m. for this 21st annual event. The 5K run steps off at 8:15 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. No pledges required. Participants can register at www.cancer.northwestern.edu or in the park on the day of the event.

The non-competitive three-mile walk along Chicago’s lakefront and timed 5K race brings cancer survivors and their families and friends together with the physicians, scientists and health professionals who support them for a meaningful morning filled with family-friendly activities. The celebration includes a picnic, entertainment and an opportunity to sign a dedication wall. The event will end by 11 a.m.
