Homecoming Parade Impacts Campus Transportation

Limitations for car parkers and shuttle riders

In order to accommodate Northwestern University's Homecoming parade route on Oct. 26, the Intercampus and Ryan Field shuttles will be rerouted and the Evanston Loop shuttle will have delayed start. Please allow extra time as the shuttles may experience delays due to heavier vehicular and pedestrian traffic. In addition, University Police remind all parkers that, beginning at 5:30 p.m., there will be limited access into and from the main Evanston campus during the parade.

Access to most lots and drives east of Sheridan Road will be closed until the parade ends at approximately 8:00 p.m. The parade will begin at Lincoln Street and will move south to the Arch. As the parade forms at Lincoln Street, the road will be closed to vehicle traffic and will remain closed until all floats have reached Sheridan road. Therefore, all parkers wishing to leave the North campus lots, must have their vehicles removed prior to 5:30 pm. Parkers who chose to remain on campus after 5:30 p.m. should anticipate delays until the parades end.

The following lots will be closed due to Homecoming events: (Reservoir lot # 104, closed all day; North Beach lot, # 105, north section only closed after 5:00 pm; Locy Hall lot, # 208, closed after 6:00 pm).

Beginning at 4:45 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m., the following temporary changes will be made to campus shuttle routes.

Intercampus route: Starting with the 4:45 p.m. scheduled departure from the Chicago Campus Ward Building and the 5:15 p.m. scheduled departure from Evanston’s Ryan Field, the Intercampus Shuttle will be rerouted until service ends Friday night.

Northbound service from the Chicago campus will turn west onto Clark Street from Chicago Avenue, and turn north on Sherman Avenue to Central Street and Ryan Field. The Weber Arch, Jacobs Center, Tech Institute and Patten Gym stops will not be made. However, during this reroute you may flag down the driver or ask to be let off at any corner along the east side of Sherman Avenue or north side of Clark Street or Elgin Road.

Southbound service to the Chicago campus will be rerouted after the Sherman/Emerson stop, continuing directly to the Chicago campus.  During this reroute the Emerson/Maple, Ridge/Garnett, Ridge/Noyes, Noyes/Sherman, Sheridan/Noyes, Sheridan/Foster, and Chicago/Sheridan stops will not be made.

Ryan Field route: Starting with the 5:19 p.m. scheduled departure from Chicago/Davis, the Ryan Field Shuttle will be rerouted at the Chicago Ave./Clark St. intersection by turning west onto Clark Street from Chicago Avenue and turning north on Sherman Avenue to Central Street and Ryan Field. The Weber Arch, Jacobs Center, Tech Institute and Patten Gym stops will not be made. However, during this reroute you may flag the driver or ask to be let off at any corner along the east side of Sherman Avenue or north side of Clark Street or Elgin Road.

Evanston and Campus Loop routes: The Evanston Loop, which normally begin at 6:00 p.m., is scheduled to begin service at 9:15 p.m.  at the Norris/Library stop. The Campus Loop is scheduled to start at its normal start time of 9:00 p.m. The scheduled time may vary, depending on when Sheridan Road is reopened.
