Was that Elaine of HBO's Veep Visiting Northwestern?

EVANSTON, Ill. --- Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus took time off from her job as vice president in HBO’s new comedy “Veep” recently to join an all-star panel at the School of Communication’s annual Festival of Writing and Writers on Northwestern’s Evanston campus.

Louis-Dreyfus, 1983 School of Communication graduate, was joined by a talented quintet of artists who discussed “ins” and “outs” of working in the entertainment industry and answered questions from students interested in entertainment careers. 

At one point, the actress who forever will be known for her role as Elaine in “Seinfeld” turned to her fellow panelists. “Where were you guys when I was coming up?” she asked. “I could have really used this (advice).” 

Panelists were Louis-Dreyfus’s long-time husband and actor, director and producer Brad Hall, a 1980 Northwestern grad who performed on “Saturday Night Live”; award-winning playwright and TV writer Kia Corthon (“The Wire” and “The Jury”); award-winning playwright and TV writer Jacquelyn Reingold (“Smash” and “In Treatment”); and actress and producer Amanda Watkins, whose Broadway credits include “Sweet Charity” and “Cabaret” and who is development director of a New York-based theatre company.
