Tom Shanley

A national leader in pediatric intensive care, Tom Shanley specializes in the treatment of children afflicted with conditions such as hypoxemic respiratory failure from lung disease and septic shock triggered by infection. The broad goal of his research is to improve understanding of the molecular basis of inflammatory diseases that afflict these critically ill young patients. Shanley is chair of pediatrics at the Feinberg School of Medicine and Founders’ Board Centennial Professor and chairman of the department of medicine at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He is also chief research officer of the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute and president of the hospital’s Pediatric Faculty Foundation.
