- Studies the basic biological mechanisms of neuromuscular diseases – particularly SMA and ALS – and their direct applications to patient care and drug discovery
- Uses large clinical databases to determine diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers
- Works to define appropriate therapeutic windows and cell targets for SMN protein augmenting therapies and decide on therapeutic regimes to treat the entirety of SMA pathology
- Works to predict fast ALS disease progressors, which can enrich clinical trials with patients most likely to demonstrate treatment effect over a restricted time-period
